Downhill goes Uphill – Innovations Propel Skiing to the Next Level

Published by Eckehard Fozzy Moritz under News

Innovations have made Skiing accessible to many. Whatever you may think of it; without the development of new durable materials, safety mechanisms, and infrastructure innovations skiing would have remained a challenging pastime of a few; walking uphill, attaching wooden planks to leather shoes, and negotiating downhill, directly towards a warm place to dry the wet clothes and body.

Innovations have thus created a skiing business. But nature has fought back: Ever less natural snow due to global warming, destruction of alpine soil, attacks on flora and fauna, and a huge global heap of not recyclable waste have put skiing into a problematic image. Not only environmentalists demand far more care in the future of this sport, if it is to be maintained at the current level at all.

What to do? Skiing is pure excitement, combining a great physical sensation and aesthetic experimentation with health sustaining outdoor experiences and access to a wonderful nature. Skiing is big business. But skiing is also part of a global problem with detrimental local effects in the geographical areas concerned.

We are sure: Innovations will again provide solutions! The joy of gliding will be able to be experienced in perfectly adapted low impact artificial surroundings, in cities on polymer surfaces, even in virtual worlds. Nature lovers will be offered unobtrusive ways to explore snow-capped hills. Fun-Ski Centers will be established or further developed in much more harmony with the environment. New biocompatible materials will reduce the negative environmental effects of equipment and apparel. In short, people will be able to enjoy those aspects of skiing that are important to them.

The future of skiing starts today. Be part of the exciting developments ahead…
